The first services of Welcome Baptist Church were held under a brush arbor near Gantt Station (now better known as the intersection of White Horse Road, Piedmont Highway and Grove Road). The weather prevented continual services under the brush arbor and the first worshipers gathered for services in a blacksmith shop near the intersection of White Horse Road and Anderson Road. It was here that the church was formally organized on April 25, 1875.
Just as Paul reminds us of the importance of each member of the body, so it is with each phase of the Church. The vision, the dedication, the responsibility and the commitment of every member from the youngest to the eldest working together in unity becomes the purpose and goal for the church. Our prayer is for a ministry program to meet the spiritual needs of the Welcome Community and to carry out the Great Commission of Jesus Christ our Savior.
